What to Bring for FD-258 Fingerprinting

Begin with the requesting agency’s instructions so you can prepare for the right type of service.

Confirm the format before arranging a visit

Ask the agency whether it accepts ink fingerprints on FD-258 cards for your purpose. Requirements for employment, licensing, or another request can differ. Do not assume an ink card can replace an electronic submission requirement.

Ask about identification and cards

Confirm the identification accepted for the appointment, whether cards are supplied, how many are needed, and whether the agency requires its own card or specific codes. Bring the written instructions through the agreed appointment process.

Understand what happens after collection

Ask who submits the completed card, where it goes, and which fees or supporting documents are separate. The requesting agency determines acceptance and processing. Collection does not guarantee approval.

Ask about ink-card fingerprinting

Rewrite’s planned service uses ink on FD-258 cards. Live Scan and electronic fingerprint submission are not offered. Call to ask about appointment availability; online booking is not available.
